The league was formed in 1970 and is still going strong to this day. There are presently six teams in the league located in Randalstown, Clady,  Moneyglass,  and Portglenone. Each team plays fourteen league matches in the season, meeting opponents on a home and away, round robin basis. During a league match each team puts forward five players playing the best of 5 X 501. Each player winning their tie scores one point for their team.

 The team with the most points after ten matches is crowned champion of the Randalstown & District Dart League Cup. There are also several other cups up for grabs each year - The Gerry Robinson Cup, The Celtic Cup, The Eddie Scullion Pairs, The Toner Cup, The Neeson's Cup, The Neeson's Celtic Cup  The Ernie Moore Cup, Freddie Mulholland Memorial Cup, Christopher O' Neill Memorial Cup, Maura Bonnes Memorial Cup, O'Connell's Individuals Cup and the two tiered Knockout Cups consisting of the Freddie Quigley Memorial Cup and the McKenna McGinley Cup, and finally the cup all players want the Randalstown and District Individuals Cup.
